Michigan football is one of the teams in the mix for elite offensive tackle Charles Jagusah who announced he will make his commitment on Thursday.

Offensive line recruiting has been an adventure in the 2023 recruiting class for Michigan football and part of that probably has to do with Sherrone Moore moving from offensive line coach and co-offensive coordinator to offensive coordinator.

Matt Weiss is still sharing the duties and helping with the passing game but Moore has more responsibility than ever and still has to coach the offensive line, which won the Joe Moore Award as the top group in the country last season.

Maybe that’s been a contributing factor but the Wolverines don’t have an offensive lineman commitment yet in the 2023 class, although one of their top targets is going to be making an announcement on Thursday — Charles Jagusah.

Jagusah is a mammoth and at 6-foot-6, 300 pounds has the perfect frame to be an elite offensive tackle. Notre Dame has been the heavy favorite for the past few months, but Michigan football hosted him for an official visit and there was hope that the Wolverines made a move.

However, according to the On3 prediction machine which gives the Irish a better than 90-percent chance of getting the four-stars commitment on Thursday, it didn’t make a difference.

I fully expect Notre Dame to be the pick on Thursday, which makes landing three-star offensive tackle Logan Howland a must for the Wolverines.

Other tackle options for Michigan football

U-M looks like it will miss on Chris Terek who is trending to Iowa and there aren’t really any other legit tackles targets on the board.

Howland is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle from New Jersey who once played tight end (sort of like Ryan Hayes). EJ Holland put in a prediction for Michigan in the first part of June but after Howland was on campus, he didn’t commit. He also visited Iowa, Oklahoma, and Miami.

The Wolverines have an 80 percent chance of winning his commitment but no crystal ball projections at this time. He’s ranked No. 528 overall in the On3 consensus rankings for 2023 but he’s a guy with big-time upside.
