The sum of parts is interesting

Jaelin Llewellyn is exactly the kind of point guard that Michigan basketball needed to play with Hunter Dickinson. He can create his own shot and can knockdown jumpers, as well as 3-pointers. He will also fit well in the pick-and-roll dominant offense of Juwan.

Dug McDaniel is another interesting option and even though some fans wanted a different two-guard, I think Kobe Bufkin is going to be just fine. I also believe Jett Howard is going to make a bigger impact and be a better all-around player as a freshman than Caleb Houstan.

As a pure shooter, Houstan might be better, but Jett knows how to play winning basketball and is also better at creating his own shot, as well as scoring in the mid-range. He’s an underrated defender too.

Baker is a sharpshooter and if he plays 15-20 minutes a game this season, he should be able to make at least one trey per game on average. Terrance Williams is also a capable 3-point shooter, as are Isaiah Barnes and Will Tschetter.

Tarris Reed is super underrated and is actually Michigan’s highest-rated signee, yet his potential contributions next season aren’t talked about much due to Dickinson, who is a former All-American and will have a good chance of earning that honor again next season.

This team still needs guys to take a leap and grow, but this program is pretty proven in terms of player development. If the three rising sophomores improve and the other pieces fit as expected, even if they don’t exceed expectations, this team has the pieces of a Big Ten contender.
