Michigan Football: What’s next if Dante Moore commits to Oregon?
By Jacob Cox
Michigan football has had an underwhelming June on the recruiting trail and now, 2023 quarterback Dante Moore is trending to Oregon.
The recent rumors surrounding 2023 five-star quarterback Dante Moore are that he is going to Oregon. Moore took the trip out west this weekend, his second visit to Oregon.
The Wolverines were hoping to have him on campus in Ann Arbor this weekend because Moore had really connected with 2023 five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown, who is visiting Michigan this weekend. Having both players on campus, together, would’ve been “ideal” for the Maize and Blue.
An underwhelming June on the recruiting trail for Michigan football
In the month of June, Michigan football fans have had virtually nothing to be happy about when it comes to recruiting. Dante Moore possibly going to Oregon would be the second “miss” for the Wolverines this month.
On June 9th, 2024 five-star quarterback CJ Carr committed to rival, Notre Dame. That was a big blow for the Wolverines as Carr is the grandson of former Michigan football head coach Lloyd Carr.
Losing two highly recruited quarterbacks in the same month would just hurt. Plain and simple. With one of the quarterbacks, Carr, having as close of ties to Michigan as you possibly could, and him choosing an arch-rival school. Then, Moore, having had Michigan football as his first-ever offer and to have both not commit to your school, it would be devastating.
What’s next for Michigan football if Dante Moore commits to Oregon?
Michigan football, mainly head coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterbacks coach/ co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss have been in constant contact with 2024 five-star quarterback Jaydn Davis.
Davis, who is currently rated the third-best overall quarterback in the country for the 2024 class per 247Sports, is from North Carolina.
Davis is an extremely accurate quarterback who has elite footwork. As he continues to grow and develop, he will get stronger and have more arm strength which is seen as his current weakness.
Michigan will need to stay in the pursuit of Davis if Moore commits to Oregon because with Arch Manning committing to Texas, the southern schools who were in the mix for him that are right in Davis’ backyard, will be looking to be the front-runner for Davis.
