It’s going to be another big weekend for Michigan football recruiting as multiple five-star prospects will be on campus for official visits.

This weekend is the final one before the recruiting dead period which lasts for about a month until late July and it’s an important one for Michigan football.

The Wolverines were able to end their commitment drought last week after double-digit recruits were on campus for official visits and Michigan football could use more momentum coming out of this weekend as more recruits will take their official visits.

Are there are any realistic chances to win a commitment? It’s going to be tough. Kenyon Sadiq is one name I’m watching. He’s a three-star athlete and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Idaho.

Last year, the Wolverines signed Colston Loveland, the top-ranked recruit in the state of Idaho, and Sadiq, a three-star ranked No. 854 overall is 6-foot-3, 222 pounds could be the next Idaho recruit to pledge to Michigan football.

Sadiq would likely play wide receiver for U-M and is a lot better than this ranking suggests. Iowa State is the main threat and has a slight lead going into the weekend according to the On3 prediction machine but Michigan is close and should be able to pull ahead with an impressive visit.

Michigan football trying to impress five-star recruits

Of course, the headliners this weekend are five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown, as well as five-star cornerback Javien Toviano, who is ranked No. 22 overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings and just announced his visit to Ann Arbor this month.

Michigan made the cut list for Toviano earlier this spring and getting him for an official (he later canceled a trip to Georgia) was huge. Steve Clinkscale has done a spectacular job here just like Ron Bellamy has done well to get Brown back to Ann Arbor.

The recruitment of Toviano, the No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas is also pretty wide open. Texas A&M and Texas are slight leaders according to the On3 prediction machine at 23 and 20 percent respectively, but Michigan football is right there at 18 and is hosting him this weekend.

It’s a real opportunity to pull a five-star defensive back for the second straight cycle and landing one out of Texas would be really impressive.

Brown is out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida, but LSU is the leader according to the On3 prediction machine after his recent visit.

The Tigers have a 63-percent chance to win his commitment but Michigan can try to make a move this weekend, although getting Dante Moore on campus probably would have helped a great deal. Yet, he’s now started to trend to Oregon.

Still, Brown would get the chance to play with J.J. McCarthy next season and one of his mentors is Desmond Howard, so don’t count out the Wolverines.

It feels like Michigan football is on the verge of some commitments in early July and it would be nice to get something from this weekend trending in that direction too.
