It’s a big weekend for Michigan football recruiting and not just because of “Victors Weekend” and here is a look at what you need to know.

It’s “Victors Weekend” and the Michigan football staff is bringing a bunch of talented recruits on campus for official visits.

The Wolverines hosted double-digit visitors last weekend too and while it led to a number of expert projections, Michigan football’s commitment drought is still going. It’s been since March since the Wolverines have landed a verbal pledge.

Could that drought end this weekend?

There seems like a chance it could happen. If not, commitments are going to come soon enough. Michigan football has been trending with a number of targets and just picked up a slew of crystal ball projections for Enow Etta, a top-150 DL that just visited Michigan State.

Etta will be on campus as well as six recruits total that rank in the top 150 of the On3 consensus rankings for the 2023 recruiting class.

The Wolverines really need to close with some top targets but it’s also an important weekend in terms of QB recruiting as Dante Moore visits Texas A&M.

So we’ll start there.

Dante heads to College Station

Michigan football has a number of important targets on campus but the most important target of the 2023 class will be visiting Texas A&M.

The Aggies are still in the mix with four-star QB Jaden Rashada, who has pushed his announcement to June 26. It was supposed to be this weekend, and there was some thought that if the Aggies got his pledge, Moore might not visit.

Instead, he will be visiting Texas A&M. The key for the Aggies will be to impress him and get him back for an official visit. This weekend is unofficial.

While this visit is important, I’m most interested in the next one. Where will Dante Moore go next? Will he visit Michigan or Oregon? It seems like U-M is among the top contenders with Oregon and LSU but the Ducks have gotten some buzz this week and I’m definitely concerned.

Avery Johnson is also visiting Oregon this weekend and he’s a four-star QB. If it sounds like he could commit to Oregon after this weekend, that could be a good sign with Dante Moore, but the Wolverines can’t be called the leader at this point.

It sounds like a decision could be coming this summer, possibly even this month. One thing to keep in mind is that EJ Holland of The Wolverine is really tight with Dante and basically said he won’t put in a prediction without Dante giving him the Ok.

So if EJ makes a prediction for Oregon, Michigan, or anywhere, I’d take that as solid. My gut tells me Oregon leads but there is still time to change it and I still think it’s very tight.
