Michigan football hosted three offensive linemen last weekend and here’s a look at where some things stand following those visits.

It was a busy weekend for Michigan football on the recruiting trail as the Wolverines hosted a number of recruits in Ann Arbor over the weekend and while there haven’t been any commitments yet, Michigan has been trending in the right direction with a number of key targets.

One of the offensive line targets from the 2023 class that was on campus was Paul Mubenga, a three-star interior lineman from the state of Georgia.

He’s ranked 543rd overall in the 2023 class according to the On3.com consensus rankings and the On3 prediction machine gives the Wolverines an 87 percent chance of winning his commitment. Mubenga has also received a number of crystal ball projections for Michigan.

While that is good news, it was a little disappointing that Michigan football wasn’t able to get a commitment out of Logan Howland or Chris Terek — the other two offensive line targets on campus.

Both said positive things about their visits, so it doesn’t mean that Michigan football won’t get a commitment from one or both of them, but their recruitments aren’t over and I was hoping the Wolverines would leave the weekend at least one verbal pledge.

Amir Herring to be on campus

The recruitment of Amir Herring has been all over the place. He was supposed to visit this month and then didn’t and after his official visit to Nebraska, the Huskers started trending as the favorite.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder out of West Bloomfield, is one of the best players in Michigan in the 2023 class and ranks 261 overall as well as fourth in the state of Michigan.

Ron Bellamy was his head coach in high school but Michigan has been a little back-and-forth to the point that Nebraska received multiple expert projections.

Yet, EJ Holland is reporting that Herring will be on campus for a visit this weekend and that could be a sign of a renewed push by the Wolverines and to be honest, it seemed like Michigan football was where Herring wanted to be all along.

If Michigan reciprocates that, it should be able to overcome Nebraska but will have to be convincing after cooling a couple of different times, at least from the outside looking in.

In some bad news, top-100 offensive tackle Cayden Green has canceled his visit. But he was trending hard to Oklahoma anyway so it’s not really shocking.
