While Michigan football probably wanted a longer timeline with Dante Moore before the Carr news dropped, now the Wolverines should be hoping for a decision sooner rather than later.

Holland, who provided this update on Moore (subscription required), said Moore has been growing tired of the recruiting process and a decision could come by the end of this month.

That would be great news for Michigan football.

Dante is expected to visit Texas A&M later this month, but Jaden Rashada’s commitment could have an impact on that. That will be his first visit there and I wouldn’t be that worried about the Aggies until he returns for an official visit. The one this month would be unofficial.

A guy who values relationships doesn’t seem likely to commit to a school where he has no ties and hasn’t visited after his first trip.

Moore also hasn’t visited Oregon since earlier this spring and the Ducks are hosting four-star Avery Johnson the same weekend Moore is supposed to be in College Station and Johnson has also talked about a commitment in June.

The Ducks have been trending down with Moore and Rashada, so Johnson could be their guy and if Rashada goes to A&M (Florida, LSU, and Miami are other contenders) then LSU and Notre Dame would be the remaining contenders.

The Tigers might be the current leader according to the On3 prediction machine and they are a legit contender. But if Moore winds up deciding this month or even this summer, I think that favors the Wolverines who have the longest-standing relationship.

And he’ll have a great chance to start in 2024, as well as get on the field in 2023, just like J.J. McCarthy did as a freshman in 2021.

So for all those reasons, it’s easy to be optimistic about where Michigan football stands with Dante Moore but it also has work to do to wrap up his commitment.
