Michigan Football trending for 3-star TE Chico Holt
Michigan football is trending to get three-star tight end Chico Holt from Texas, who could be the one to break the Wolverines’ commitment drought.
We don’t know when exactly three-star tight end Chico Holt will announce his commitment, but he’s trending with expert predictions to wind up with Michigan football and since he’s on campus for an official visit, a decision might come sooner rather than later.
But whenever it does come down, it sounds like it’s going to be in favor of the Wolverines. EJ Holland of The Wolverine put in an On3 expert prediction and the prediction machine for Chico Holt gives Michigan football a 95-percent chance to land his commitment.
Holt is out of Houston, Texas, and is listed at 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-5 (depending on the recruiting service) and is 220 pounds. He’s ranked No. 854 overall in the 2023 recruiting class, as well as 41st among tight ends and 144th in the state of Texas.
Michigan football fans might be worried about the ranking but his offer listed was expanding and included Michigan State, Texas, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Cal, Iowa State, and SMU among others.
The Spartans hosted Holt for an unofficial visit on April 15th. Michigan football offered him in early May and Texas was the other big name to offer recently.
What Michigan could be getting
Holt is a traditional in-line tight end, however, he’s got some flexibility. He lines up in the slot at times but most of his highlights show him lined up near the line of scrimmage.
Yet, with his blocking ability, which is impressive, it’s not a surprise. He drive blocks really well and does a good job of getting to the second level. He also throws the shot put and caught 19 passes for 213 yards and four touchdowns last season.
He’s got some work to do as an athlete but he catches the ball well and he’ll fit perfectly with what Michigan football wants to do with its tight ends and how much it expects them to block.
Experts from 247, Rivals, and On3 have all projected him to Michigan football and he could be the next commitment in the 2023 recruiting class.
