Five-star quarterback Dante Moore talked about his recruitment and Michigan football. Plus a new five-star visitor for June.

CJ Carr, the grandson of Lloyd Carr, committed to Notre Dame on Thursday night among Michigan football and others.

That was the big news on Thursday night and the question is, how will it impact the recruitment of another five-star QB from the state of Michigan — Dante Moore?

Moore talked to reporters last night and according to Chad Simmons of On3.com, Michigan football has momentum with the five-star.

Moore told Simmons that Michigan, Texas A&M, Oregon, LSU, Miami, and even Ohio State were still in the mix. The Buckeyes should worry Michigan fans just a little.

Moore actually grew up in Ohio and was a Buckeyes fan. Ohio State did already take the No. 1 QB in the 2024 class in Dylan Raiola but is still looking for a 2023 QB and recently offered Baylor’s commit and has him coming to Columbus for an official visit.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Buckeyes won’t be in the mix. But like Notre Dame, does Ohio State want to jeopardize its 2024 QB commit by adding Moore?

At any rate, Moore said he was happy for CJ Carr, and also, here’s what he told Simmons about Michigan:

"“Just the respect I have with them and the respect they have with me,” Moore said of what has caused the Wolverines to make up ground. “They say I’m the only 2023 [quarterback] recruit they’re recruiting, so that was huge for me. But really, I’m just trying to go up there as much as I can and just enjoy my time up there. What they did last year, to be honest with the quarterback game,” Moore added when asked what has impressed him most. “Many people saw JJ and Cade and what they’ve done. And seeing as a quarterback position, that’s a really good spot.”"

The QB play should be even better for Michigan football in 2022 and if the Wolverines air it out, as they should with all of their weapons that should only help attract top-ranked quarterbacks like Moore or five-star Jadyn Davis in 2024.

There’s no doubt that CJ Carr to Notre Dame gives Michigan football a better shot at Moore but there is still a lot of work to do and this recruitment still feels wide open.

5-star WR Jalen Brown sets official visit

It’s always news when Dante Moore talks. But some other significant Michigan football recruiting news came out on Thursday night as EJ Holland of The Wolverine reported that five-star wideout Jalen Brown has scheduled an official visit for June 24.

Brown is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound wideout from Gulliver Prep in Miami and Desmond Howard has served as a mentor of sorts here

So there are ties to Michigan football. The Wolverines seemed to fall off a bit in this recruitment, but of course, Ron Bellamy has been doing work and the Wolverines now have an official visit, which is massive.

Brown has been to Ann Arbor multiple times but this will be a third and an official visit. According to the On3 prediction machine, LSU, Georgia, and Miami are the top three contenders right now, but this visit can get U-M squarely back in the mix.

Next. Should Michigan be on commitment watch this weekend?. dark

The five-star will make his third visit to LSU next weekend (June 17) followed by a trip to Michigan and from there, we’ll see where things go but getting Brown to campus again makes you believe the Wolverines have a legit shot to win his commitment.
