Michigan Football: 6 potential commitments for Wolverines in June
3-star TE Deakon Tonielli
Over the past few recruiting cycles, Michigan football has really focused on the state of Illinois and you can tell that has carried over to the 2023 class because three of six guys on this list of possible commitments for June are from Illinois.
Hill and Terek are both trending in the right direction for the Wolverines and another 2023 recruit that falls into that category is Deakon Tonielli.
Holland put in an expert projection for Tonielli to land with Michigan football months ago and things haven’t really seemed to change much.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder is ranked seventh in the state of Illinois, as well as 24th among tight ends and No. 465 overall according to the On3 consensus rankings. Michigan is loaded at tight end and could be sending multiple guys to the NFL next season such as Erick All, who could be a day-two draft pick.
Not only does Michigan use its tight ends a lot, Grant Newsome is strong recruiter and with Tonielli visiting Illinois and then just Michigan on June 15, it feels like there’s a chance for the Wolverines to seal the deal with another top player from Illinois.
The On3 prediction machine gives Michigan a 94-percent chance to do just that.
