Michigan football made the cut list in the recruitment of five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor’s and we break down what it means for the Wolverines.

Five-star quarterback Dante Moore is arguably Michigan football’s top recruiting target in the 2023 class but fellow five-star Nyckoles Harbor is right there with him and on Saturday, the freakish athlete released a top seven that included the Wolverines.

Harbor has continued to turn heads this spring with his impressive track times and the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder out of DC runs the 100-meter dash in 10.28 seconds. He also ran the 200 in 20.76 and frankly, he might be the best athlete in the entire 2023 class.

Michigan football has done a really good job on this recruitment and had Harbor on campus this spring for an unofficial visit. Maryland has gotten the most visits and the Terps, the in-state program made the cut along with South Carolina, Miami, USC, LSU, and Georgia.

Where does Michigan football stand?

The Wolverines have done a really good job with Harbor. He’s a kid that values academics and is also serious about his track career, so there is a balance that will need to be struck and Michigan is going to have to sell him on the track program too.

There was talk a while back that Harbor had a top-two and that it was Michigan football and USC, another program where he visited unofficially.

The Trojans are probably the biggest worry along with Maryland which leads according to the On3.com prediciton machine with a 27 percent chance to win his commitment while Michigan is second at 21 percent.

The official visits are likely going to determine this recruitment. Harbor has been focusing on track which prevented him from being on campus for Michigan’s spring game. But the Wolverines are recruiting one of his close teammates and leads, which could help lure Harbor.

Initially, it was thought that Michigan wanted him as an EDGE and you can see why. But he can be an uber-dynamic wide receiver too. He’s the kind of player you just want on your team and you can figure out the best position later.

The Wolverines have put themselves in a solid position but they need to get an official visit scheduled in the fall and hope they can get him up another time before signing day.
