Steph Curry might have stolen the show on Friday as the Warriors won Game 2 of the West Finals but Michigan basketball’s Jordan Poole was outstanding too.

We knew going into the conference final round of the NBA playoff that a Michigan basketball player was going to win an NBA championship as each roster has at least one Wolverine.

But more and more, it feels like that player could be Jordan Poole as the Warriors moved another win closer to getting back to the NBA finals following a 126-117 victory.

Curry had a 31-point effort including some stellar makes in the fourth quarter as Golden State rallied from a double-digit halftime deficit to grab a 2-0 lead on the Mavericks, who boast Michigan’s Trey Burke and also Tim Hardaway Jr. who is hurt.

Poole was huge too though and he continues to be an X-factor off the bench scoring 23 points in just 29 minutes. He was +26 which was the highest rating of any Golden State player and led all players on both teams, reinforcing his impact.

One big reason for that is the fact that Poole scored 23 points on just 10 field-goal attempts. He earned seven free throw attempts and made all of them, which isn’t a surprise because he led the league in free-throw percentage during the regular season.

Poole was also 2-for-4 from 3-point range and added five assists. The former Michigan basketball standout that went late in the first round to Golden State is averaging 19.5 points per game in the playoffs, shooting 39 percent from three and dishing out 4.7 assists per game.

And if he keeps it up, the former Wolverine could be in the NBA finals soon.
