Now that spring ball is in our rearview mirror, here are five bold predictions for Michigan football as we look ahead to the Wolverines’ 2022 season.

The 2022 college football season is now about four months away and for Michigan football, the excitement is palpable.

Michigan is fresh off its best season since 1997 which was the last time the Wolverines won the national championship. U-M didn’t accomplish that last season but still made the College Football Playoff, won the Big Ten championship, and most importantly, beat Ohio State.

The Wolverines are obviously going to be a different team in 2022. Aidan Hutchinson, Daxton Hill, David Ojabo, and a number of other key veterans on defense such as Josh Ross, Chris Hinton, Brad Hawkins, and Vincent Gray are gone to the NFL.

The offense also lost Hassan Haskins, who set the Michigan football record for rushing touchdowns last season and was legendary in the Ohio State game.

But every team has holes to fill. Even Alabama and Georgia are trying to re-tool their rosters after a mass exodus of talent to the NFL and the transfer portal.

That’s why recruiting at an elite level matters and while there are some valid concerns about Michigan football’s efforts so far in 2023, Michigan closed really strong in 2022 and 2021, landing multiple five-stars and recruits like Donovan Edwards, J.J. McCarthy, Andrel Anthony, Junior Colson, Will Johnson, Darrius Clemons, Derrick Moore and Keon Sabb in the process.

The talent is there for Michigan football to have another really good season in 2022 and with that in mind, here are five bold predictions for the Wolverines heading into the fall.
