Andrew Stueber was Michigan football’s fifth and final player selected in the 2022 NFL draft and here’s why he will be a solid pro for the New England Patriots.

If there is one thing that’s always been true about the NFL draft is that you can find really solid offensive linemen on day three in rounds 4-7.

And after selecting Michigan football’s Andrew Stueber in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft, the New England Patriots added a solid piece to their offensive line. The kind of piece that New England could eventually develop into a starter.

Stueber is never going to wow you with his athleticism or his footwork. But during his Michigan football career, he was solid and he just found a way to always get the job done.

He’s played left tackle and right tackle in his career and I have zero doubt that he could bump inside and play guard which might be his best position.

Stueber’s versatility makes him a great fit for the Patriots

Versatility is always valued in offensive linemen, especially at this point in the draft. Teams can usually dress seven or eight O-linemen on gameday and having someone like Stueber who can play both guard and tackle is extremely valuable for that reason.

He’s played a lot of football for the Wolverines over the past few seasons and he’s turned into a stellar run blocker. Quick edge rushers are going to give him problems, but that’s why I think he will eventually be bumped inside.

Some NFL draft analysts had him projected to go in either the fourth or fifth round, so the Patriots landing him in the seventh was a great value. And based on the way he played at Michigan, it wouldn’t be shocking if Stueber found his way into the lineup over the next few years just like Jon Runyan Jr. did in Green Bay.
