Former Michigan football safety Daxton Hill was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals, he was taken in the first round but not as high as you might think.

The Bengals selected Daxton Hill with the 31st pick in the first round, and he will fit in nicely with a nice young team in Cincinnati. Hill was a rock this past year for Michigan football, and as we know, he can make plays in the backend. The former No. 1 overall safety and five-star recruit of out Tulsa, Oklahoma, lived up to the hype and deserved to be drafted high and maybe even higher.

I predicted Hill would go just a pick earlier in a past article, but this is still a favorable spot for a young guy like Daxton. He will get to polish his craft around one of the top safeties in the NFL, Jessie Bates III. Cincinnati is coming off their best season in decades as they won the AFC and made the Super Bowl. Hill will be able to grow and learn in the Bengal’s system as he can be a swiss army knife for that defense.

What Hill’s role will be with Cincinnati

Hill will likely travel back to his original safety spot, but he can also stand out in the slot corner role. He is the first Michigan football defensive back to go in the first round since Jabrill Peppers in 2017, and before that, it was Leon Hall in 2007 who also got drafted to the Cincinnati Bengals.

A cool storyline is that Daxton’s brother Justice Hill also plays in the AFC North for the Baltimore Ravens so the siblings will be meeting up twice a year on a business holiday.

I think I speak for all Michigan football fans when I say thank you to Daxton Hill; he has been remarkable and a key player for the Wolverines these past three years.

It was fantastic watching him play, and my favorite memory has the be the pass breakup this season against Nebraska that won Michigan the game. Hill came to Michigan with a lot of hype as 5-stars do, but he surpassed that and more.

All of the writers here at GBM Wolverine wish Daxton the best in the NFL. Hill has the speed, coverage skills, and versatility to be an everyday safety in the league and will be a staple for the Bengals for years to come.
