Pro Football Network’s Ian Cumming’s 7-Round Mock Draft

And finally, we take a look at Ian Cummings seven-rounder, published this past Sunday. He has EDGE Aidan Hutchinson landing with the Detroit Lions at #2 overall, which seems to be a near certainty at this point if the Jaguars pass on him in favor of a lesser product in Travon Walker.

Cummings has S Daxton Hill as another Wolverine in the first round, #30 overall to the Kansas City Chiefs. EDGE David Ojabo slips out of the first, however, but finds a nice landing spot at #43 overall with the Atlanta Falcons.

He shares the same pick as Matt Miller, sending CB Vincent Gray to the Baltimore Ravens with the 139th overall pick (fourth round). OT Andrew Stueber comes off the board in the sixth round, the 190th overall pick to the Falcons, reuniting him with both Ojabo and 2021 third-round pick Jalen Mayfield. DT Chris Hinton is in the sixth round as well, #205 overall to the Houston Texans.

And lastly, RB Hassan Haskins lands in the seventh round, #236 overall to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Takeaways

At this point, the takeaways are pretty clear for Michigan football’s NFL hopefuls:

  • EDGE Aidan Hutchinson is a top-2 pick most likely, either to the Jaguars with the top pick, or the Detroit Lions if Jacksonville passes.
  • S Daxton Hill is a late first-rounder in most mocks, with teams like the Bills, Chiefs, and Eagles serving as reasonable landing spots. Feels unlikely he gets past Detroit in the early second-round.
  • EDGE David Ojabo has some variance. He was a first-round talent prior to the Achilles injury, but that can be a devastating injury, so now he’s firmly in the second round in most mock drafts, but still could land in the first if someone wants to take a chance on him.
  • CB Vincent Gray, DT Chris Hinton, OT Andrew Stueber, and RB Hassan Haskins are pretty commonly listed as Day 3 prospects, with Gray going in the fourth- and fifth rounds, Hinton and Stueber consistently in the fifth- and sixth-round. Haskins is included in most as well, but trends towards the sixth- or seventh round.
  • LB James Ross made only one appearance but seems likely to land with someone as an undrafted free agent nonetheless, giving him a chance at earning a roster spot in the preseason.

Ultimately, this year’s NFL Draft should be quite unpredictable, with minimal high-end quarterback prospects, and very few indications as to who the Jaguars have decided on with the top pick. We are hoping to see many Wolverines land in promising situations, however. Go Blue!
