Michigan football hasn’t picked up any commitments in the 2023 recruiting class since March and we examine who could be next?

There are a few reasons to be concerned about the 2023 class as a Michigan football fan and one is that the Wolverines didn’t really generate any buzz following their spring game in April.

A little bit of that is by design. The Wolverines host a big BBQ event during the summer and that’s usually a bigger deal than the spring game.

Still, the last verbal commitment for Michigan football came on March 29th from three-star running back Benjamin Hall, who has been moving up the rankings since then and was recently offered by Miami.

One recruit that you would have expected in the 2023 class for Michigan already at this point is four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring.

The West Bloomfield product has visited the campus a number of times and Ron Bellamy was formerly his head coach.

However, Michigan seemed to cool in its interest recently, yet this week, Herring is taking an unofficial visit and it appears that the Wolverines are making a push again.

All of his crystal ball projections have him going to Michigan and according to the On3.com prediction machine, the Wolverines have a 92.8-percent chance of winning his recruitment.

He’s ranked 255th overall according to the On3.com consensus rankings and Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider confirmed (subscription required) that U-M is making more of an effort. EJ Holland also reported that Herring is on campus today.

The Wolverines always seemed like the team to beat as long as they prioritized Herring and now that it’s happening again, I wouldn’t be shocked if he was one of the next to commit.

Jyaire Hill is another commitment candidate

Hill is an athlete from the Chicago area. He’s 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and is ranked 409th overall in the 2023 recruiting class. Hill is a good athlete and he’s got the ability to play both cornerback and safety.

Michigan already had multiple expert projections for Hill and according to the On3.com prediciton machine, the Wolverines have a 96-percent chance of winning his commitment.

And according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Michigan is pushing for Hill to make an earlier commitment, which means he could be the next pledge in the 2023 class if the staff is successful.
