We are still waiting to hear the NBA draft decisions of two Michigan basketball standouts Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate.

A lot of Michigan basketball fans stayed up late to hear the news about Caleb Houstan or Moussa Diabate but went to bed disappointed.

Hunter Dickinson waited until late Sunday night but he announced that he would be returning to the Wolverines for his junior season. Dickinson was a second-team All-American as a freshman and helped Michigan basketball win the Big Ten.

Last season, he helped the Wolverines have one of the best offenses in the country and despite an up and down season, Michigan made a fifth consecutive Sweet 16 appearance.

However, the Wolverines still have two important pieces that have yet to announce their decisions. Houstan and Diabate were each five-star prospects in the 2022 recruiting class, which was a big reason it was ranked No. 1 overall.

But neither really delivered on their preseason promise. Houstan shot 39 percent from 3-point range in the Big Ten and while Diabate had moments, such as against North Carolina, Iowa, or Ohio State, he was also really inconsistent, even from game to game.

Still waiting for Diabate and Houstan to decide

On Sunday morning, I predicted that Dickinson would return. That seemed fairly obvious that he was going to come back but there hasn’t been much buzz about Diabate or Houstan. If anyone is going to head to the NBA draft, I feel like it’s Diabate.

He could really use that development, even if it comes in the G-League and while Moussa can certainly make his own chunk of money on NIL deals, it won’t be what Dickinson can earn.

Like all of you, I was refreshing Twitter constantly but the NBA will announce the list eventually, probably by Tuesday, so for now, we just wait in the dark.
