Michigan Football is a real contender for 5-star Nyckoles Harbor
Nyckoles Harbor might be the most talented recruit in the 2023 recruiting class and Michigan football is in a strong position for the 5-star athlete.
When it comes to the 2023 recruiting class, you won’t find anyone quite like Nyckoles Harbor, who put on a show last weekend on the track, running a 10.32 in the 100-meter dash.
That’s an insanely good time already, but the fact that Harbor ran it as a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder garnered national attention across the sports world.
The dude has superstar written all over him and the good news for Michigan football fans is that he seems high on the Wolverines.
Harbor is from Washington, D.C. and the Wolverines have been really making their presence felt in the DMV, which the addition of Biff Poggi to the staff as an analyst has only helped.
The five-star athlete, who would likely be an edge rusher for Michigan football, has already been on campus and was expected to visit for the spring game but track was a conflict.
Michigan football is in a strong position
Still, the Wolverines are sitting in a really good position. According to the On3.com prediction machine, Michigan football is sitting with the second-best chance of winning his commitment, trailing only Maryland and it’s 32 percent to 26 percent.
Harbor also told EJ Holland of The Wolverine this week that Michigan, “Feels like a home away from home.”
Harbor is ranked as the 16th overall prospect in the On3.com consensus rankings and is also listed as the second-best edge prospect.
And while some schools can sell that they are quarterback factories or what have you, Michigan football has been pretty good at developing edge rushers. Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo are recent examples but others are Kwity Paye, Rashan Gary, Josh Uche, and Chase Winovich.
Ojabo was trending towards being a top-10 pick before he tore his Achilles, so can you imagine what Michigan could do with Harbor?
Penn State and Alabama also have a better than 10 percent chance of winning this recruitment according to the prediction machine.
But Michigan has to feel good about where it stands with Harbor, who is sixth overall in the On3 specific rankings and has as much upside any player in this recruiting class.
