Running back

Starters: Blake Corum, Donovan Edwards; Backups: Tavierre Dunlap, Kalel Mullings

We aren’t going to separate Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards. Someone will start the game but both guys are considered starters in our book.

They each got some quick looks on Saturday and weren’t used more than needed which was smart. Edwards hauled in a 40-yard pass and showed again why defenses are going to have a hard time defending him.

Corum also showed off some cuts and while this team will miss Hassan Haskins and his physical running style, the running game shouldn’t be an issue.

The Wolverines have been wanting to find someone to take on Haskins’ role as the power back and Tavi Dunlap made a nice case for himself in the spring game. He was kind of a forgotten dude in the 2021 recruiting class but he’s got good speed and great size.

Kalel Mullings also really flashed. He was a linebacker and running back in high school and just like Mike Sainristil he could be playing both ways next season.

At any rate, unless there is a perfect fit, it doesn’t seem like adding a power back in the transfer portal is necessary.
