5 things to watch in Michigan Football’s spring game
The freshmen
Spring football games are always a great time to see younger players and Saturday will provide the opportunity to see a number of freshmen for the first time in a Michigan uniform — at least in live action.
Will Johnson, the five-star cornerback, sounds like he will be limited. But we should see plenty of everyone else.
Derrick Moore, a top-100 signee as an edge rusher is another guy I can’t wait to watch. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he earned some early playing time next season and it will be interesting to see if he can provide some immediate pass-rush help.
Darrius Clemons, the 6-foot-3 speedster at wide receiver, is another must-see guy. If there was one freshmen ready to start in 2022, it might be Clemons. However, the Wolverines are loaded at the position, so even cracking the top 5-6 is an accomplishment.
Colston Loveland is another guy to watch at tight end, as well as Keon Sabb at safety. We should also see plenty of freshmen quarterbacks Jayden Denegal and Alex Orji.
The back-to-back recruiting classes of 2021 and 2022 have set this Michigan football program up really well long-term and it’s going to be fun to see all that talent shine on Saturday.
