Michigan football is already behind in the recruitment of five-star quarterback Dante Moore and they need to flip the momentum soon.

Five-star quarterback and top Michigan football recruiting target, Dante Moore, visited Notre Dame over the last few days but wound up leaving South Bend without a commitment.

For the Wolverines, that was good news at least. The Irish probably tried to push him to make a decision but Moore hasn’t done that yet and there haven’t been any crystal ball projections coming in for Notre Dame.

Yet, if you check out the On3.com prediction machine, Notre Dame is surging in the recruitment of Dante Moore, while Michigan football is falling off.

There has only been one expert projection for Moore to Notre Dame between 247 sports and On3 but the On3 prediction machine weighs other factors and the most recent visit could be somewhat telling and is likely the reason for Notre Dame’s increased chances.

The good news is that Michigan isn’t out of the running yet. However, the Wolverines are probably running out of time.

Michigan has to catch up in the recruitment of Dante Moore

EJ Holland reported that Michigan football is trying to get Moore on campus (subscription required) for the spring game this weekend. That would be huge and a great sign of some positive momentum.

Yet, it doesn’t seem like a sure thing and the reality is that whether it happens this weekend or not, Michigan has to get Moore on campus soon.

Maybe Jim Harbaugh needs to get more involved. Denard Robinson’s hire could help but it might be too late in the game. Ron Bellamy and Sherrone Moore are also in the mix as this really is an all-hands-on-deck sort of situation.

Whether it’s Matt Weiss picking up his contact or something else, Michigan would have to be totally blind to the situation to not realize it’s falling behind with one of the most important in-state recruits in recent memory.

Missing out on Moore would be missing out on a golden opportunity to land a game-changing player and the Wolverines aren’t going to feel good about it if they simply didn’t make contact with Moore enough of a priority to win this recruitment.

dark. Next. Projected Michigan football depth chart

It should be a no-brainer but so far at least, the pursuit hasn’t been very effective.
