The Michigan football team has more recruits coming on campus for visits this weekend including a new QB to keep an eye on in the 2024 class.

Michigan football hosted its pro day on Friday and there was actually some tough news as David Ojabo wound up getting hurt.

There hasn’t been much said about Ojabo but the injury looks serious and puts a damper on the pro day and another big weekend of recruiting for the Wolverines.

A number of recruits made it to Michigan for the weekend and one of the top targets that will be in Ann Arbor is elite athlete Samuel M’Pemba.

M’Pemba is ranked 31st overall according to the On3.com consensus rankings and while Notre Dame is the favorite according to the On3 prediction machine, Michigan football has Mike Elston on its side and its hosting M’Pemba, which it wants as an EDGE, this weekend, according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine (subscription required).

With the way that Michigan has developed edge rushers over the years, especially last season with Aidan Hutchinson and Ojabo, who suffered the unfortunate injury Friday, you could see the Wolverines making up some ground, especially since Elston is now on staff at U-M.

2024 QB will be in Ann Arbor

When it comes to quarterback recruiting, Michigan football hasn’t wavered much from its heavy interest in Dante Moore in 2023 and CJ Carr in 2024, although Isaiah Marshall is another name to know from the state of Michigan in 2024.

But another QB that Michigan football has offered is Michael Van Buren, a 6-foot signal-caller out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. Van Buren, who will be on campus this weekend, isn’t ranked yet but he’s starting to pick up more offers and the Wolverines should have some familiarity from Biff Poggi’s time as St. Frances head coach.

Michigan, Penn State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia are among the power-5 programs that have offered along with others in the ACC.

It will be interesting to see how the visit goes. Michigan football fans have been wondering if the Wolverines were going to expand the board more in 2023 and 2024 and this is a sign that Van Buren is at least another serious option in the 2024 class.

Carr is obviously the No. 1 target in 2024 just like Moore is in 2023. However, there have been rumors (nothing substantial) about him possibly re-classifying, which could be another reason for the Wolverines to keep their options open.

Jyaire Hill also visiting

Michigan football is the leader for Jyaire Hill according to On3.com and 247 sports. There is just one crystal ball projection for the cornerback right now but Brice March reported (subscription required) that the 6-foot-3, 180-pound DB is on campus this weekend.

Next. 5 candidates to be Michigan's next commitment. dark

He’s a top-500 recruit and even though he’s a three-star prospect, he’s gaining momentum too and is one of the candidates that could commit, and a positive visit this weekend could be enough to push him towards that decision.
