There are few recruits more important for the future of Michigan football than Dante Moore and CJ Carr and both said good things about the hire of Denard Robinson.

It’s an open question whether or not Michigan football can land both Dante Moore and CJ Carr, two elite in-state quarterbacks that are part of the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes, respectively.

Moore, who is from Detroit, is ranked as a five-star and is the No. 6 player overall in the 2023 class. He’s been a top priority for the Wolverines since he was offered by Jim Harbaugh back in eighth grade but his recruitment is still pretty wide open with the Wolverines in the mix, as well as Notre Dame, Penn State, LSU, and others.

Michigan football fans are super excited for the future of five-star QB J.J. McCarthy, despite the fact that he’s been dealing with a shoulder injury this spring, and having a five-star in Michigan’s own backyard makes Moore a must-get.

But Carr is elite too. He’s the grandson of former head coach Lloyd Carr and he’s been a frequent visitor and just so happened to pop in during spring practice earlier this month according to Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider (subscription required).

While Carr isn’t a five-star prospect, he’s still ranked as the No. 49 overall recruit in the 2024 class, and the 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal-caller is No. 6 at his position.

Both quarterbacks like the hire of Denard Robinson

Moore and Carr have a lot in common in that each is likely the top overall recruiting target in their class for the Wolverines. But something else they have in common is that each seems to like the recent hire of Denard Robinson as part of Michigan’s recruiting department.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine spoke to both Moore and Carr and each spoke glowingly about the former U-M quarterback and what he could bring to the school (subscription required).

While you will have to read the article for yourself to see all the comments from the two standouts, it’s clear the move is going to have a positive impact on their recruitments, just as we predicted it would when Robinson was hired.

It doesn’t necessarily mean anything in terms of a commitment for either, as both Carr and Moore seem to be a long way from making a decision.

However, Carr does have three crystal ball projections to the Wolverines and even though it’s early, the Wolverines still have to be viewed as the favorite. With Moore, it’s dicier but there’s no doubt U-M is doing what it can to land the five-star QB from the state of Michigan.
