Michigan Football: Breaking down combine grades of former Wolverines
By Kylie Piazza
Josh Ross- Linebacker | Grade: 5.56
Many teams are concerned about Josh Ross’ size, concerns he cannot necessarily address at the combine. Speed is also not an area Ross specializes in, however, he participated in the 40-yard dash to give teams a chance to see what he is capable of.
Ross ran a 4.79-second 40-yard dash, which was one of the slower times among the linebackers. He also participated in both jumping drills — areas that were likely hindered by his size. Ross had the shortest jumps out of all of the linebackers, only jumping 31 inches in the vertical jump and 109 inches in the broad jump.
Although Ross might not have had the greatest statistics coming out of the combine, his talent and leadership skills are still seen from his time at Michigan. Teams are likely to be looking for a player like Ross later on in the draft.
Overall Conclusion
Combine grades are by no means the only area that teams look at when choosing who to draft. The Wolverines who participated in the combine were competing alongside some of the best NFL draft prospects.
These Michigan players will have another chance to improve their draft chances at Michigan’s Pro Day on March 18.
