5 things to watch as Michigan Football opens spring practices
Michigan football is opening spring practices on Monday and here are five things to watch for the Wolverines as they hit the field once again.
If anyone needs or wants a distraction from the basketball situation, the good thing for you is that Michigan football is back to work today opening spring practices.
We still have a ways to go until the spring game which is expected to be held on April 2. The Wolverines will practice three times this week before taking a planned break on the school calendar and resuming March 7.
While it was a different offseason than expected, as Jim Harbaugh flirted with the NFL before returning and signing a long-term contract extension, it all worked out and outside of some departures for the NFL draft, the Wolverines have many key pieces back.
Jim Harbaugh did lose both of his coordinators and that led to a shuffling of the coaching staff as Shaun Nua also left for USC.
We’ll look at that and some other key storylines as we look at what to watch during spring football.
Can the culture carry over?
Harbaugh said he noticed things were different for Michigan football last spring and the difference in culture was a huge part of the Wolverines 12-win season.
While many in the media have questioned Harbaugh’s look at the NFL, what matters most is what his players and assistant coaches think.
A number of assistants got raises and extensions and Michigan football didn’t lose anyone to the transfer portal, at least no one that is expected to be starting next season, so it seems like everything is back to normal but that’s something to monitor this spring.
