Offensive promotions

While many expected Weiss to be given the play-calling duties for next season, giving Moore the promotion to offensive coordinator makes a ton of sense.

To put it bluntly, he was and is the most important member of Harbaugh’s coaching staff. Macdonald was right there with him but Moore is not only an elite coach, he’s the best recruiter on the staff.

So Harbaugh was right to do what it took to secure him. Neither guy has called plays before and there will surely be some collaboration but the important thing is that the Wolverines are keeping two of the main architects of last season’s dominating run game.

Josh Gattis did grow as a play-caller last season but the Wolverines weren’t going to match the money that Miami got and they shouldn’t have. It was better to spend that on Moore, Weiss, and hopefully on Mike Hart, as well as Steve Clinkscale who is going to be co-DC too.

Clink earned that promotion in his contract, which is another reason to feel good about Minter because Clink excelled in his role as de-facto defensive passing game coordinator last year. He’ll be doing the same job it sounds like, just with more money in his pocket and that’s a good thing.
