Gut reactions from Michigan Basketball’s loss to Purdue
Michigan basketball battled against Purdue on Saturday and lost a close game with a rematch looming later this week.
Hunter Dickinson and the Michigan basketball team played one hell of a game Saturday at Purdue, it just wasn’t enough to upset the fourth-ranked Boilermakers.
If the Wolverines had gotten a break or two, maybe things would have been different. The defensive rebounding could have been better too.
Jaden Ivey was also nearly impossible to stop and in the end, the Boilermakers’ seven-point advantage at three free-throw line proved to be the difference in the 82-76 Purdue win.
Dickinson was outstanding though and made 12 field goals, including two 3-pointers, as well as a bunch of jumpers on his way to 28 points. However, he grabbed just two rebounds and had four turnovers, including two late that were costly.
Here are the gut reactions from Michigan’s loss to Purdue.
Gut reactions from Michigan’s loss to Purdue
- Hunter Dickinson was elite but the turnovers and lack of rebounding hurt.
- Jaden Ivey is a dude..
- The same can be said about Zach Edey.
- Also, Trevion Williams never seems to miss against Michigan basketball.
- Purdue grabbed 11 offensive rebounds and forced 11 turnovers. The Boilers being plus-8 and plus four in those two categories was the difference.
- Caleb Houstan’s second half was very promising.
- Hunter is as good offensively as any player in the Big Ten.
- Michigan has a real shot to beat this team on Thursday.
- The NCAA tournament hopes aren’t dead. This wasn’t a bad loss.
- It was a missed opportunity though.
- Go Blue.
