3 things to watch for Michigan Basketball vs Nebraska
Michigan takes on Nebraska after getting trounced by the Michigan State Spartans. The Michigan basketball team will tip off at 9:00 PM ET Tuesday in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines currently sit at 10-8 and 4-4 in conference play.
Well, that was far from a perfect game for the Wolverines. In the first half against Michigan State, they looked really good and perhaps played their best basketball all year in that first half, but the Spartans adjusted and dominated the second half to the tune of a 13-point 2nd half margin.
Although the Wolverines lost, they did show progress and that “fight” we talked about previously. The Wolverines have their 2nd matchup of the season against Nebraska. Previously, the Wolverines won 102-67 in Lincoln.
Here’s a look ahead and three things to watch for Michigan basketball vs Nebraska.
1. Can Caleb Houstan continue his productivity?
One major storyline this season was how bad Caleb Houstan was shooting and performing in general, however over the last 5 or so games, Caleb has showcased serious improvement and looks more and more confident every game.
Although Caleb did take a “step back” last game only putting up 11 points, he played a critical part defensively. Caleb picked up two steals and six boards, with five of them being offensive boards giving Michigan 2nd chances.
2. How does Michigan basketball handle Alonzo Verge Jr.?
In their first outing against Nebraska, Alonzo Verge Jr. led all scoring putting up 31 points in a spectacular showing. Although the rest of the team did not produce, Alonzo certainly did and he has done pretty well since.
The Wolverines may have their hands full again, Juwan is going to need to go the chalkboard and find a way to isolate him behind the line because he’s not an effective deep ball shooter. Preventing him from driving and picking up and-1’s is going to be critical.
3. Could Terrance Williams II have a career game?
In the past few games, Terrance has played subpar at best in the last few games, however, we saw a true spark from Terrance the last time the Wolverines faced Nebraska.
It seemed as if Nebraska was so preoccupied with Hunter because of the size mismatch it gave Terrance the opportunity to thrive.
Terrance’s best game in his career came against Nebraska, so it’s not out of the question that he could break his slump and put up some serious numbers, especially coming off the bench the way he does.
This game could be a huge confidence booster for him, which results in more production from the bench.
