Michigan Football: A transfer portal tracker for Wolverines
Keep track of all the additions and subtractions for Michigan football in the transfer portal with this tracker.
Michigan football is losing a lot of depth this season, but as usual, the next-man-up motto will live up to the hype as we find out who the next new faces are of the Michigan Wolverines.
This year is really unique with the whole transfer portal and NIL deals so it’s more important than ever for a school to retain its talent while bringing in more.
Michigan football is losing some key assets this season to either the transfer portal or the NFL draft. Jim Harbaugh needs to focus on maintaining the depth and keeping some of these guys in Ann Arbor as long as he can. While it’s a tall task, it’s important he keeps as many players as he can.
Why is it so important? Well typically we’ve seen transfer portal players stay in the Big Ten Conference, so if a Michigan football recruit decides he wants to transfer out, there is a solid chance he stays in the conference and could end up at MSU or Ohio State which we do not want.
Here’s a look at the transfers in and out of U-M so far this offseason.
Transferring Out of Michigan:
as of 01/06/22
Andre Seldon (DB) – 4-Star ★★★★✰ (0.9299)
Andre was another player who was highly regarded by Michigan fans as a key difference-maker for this defense, however, things did not pan out. In his Freshman season, he only appeared once against Rutgers and saw the field once against NIU his sophomore season. Was one of the top players coming out of Michigan in the 2020 class which is a tough blow for the Wolverines secondary. He currently has offers from New Mexico State, Montana, and Miami (OH). Best of luck to Andre.
Darion Green-Warren (DB) – 4-Star ★★★★✰ (0.9232)
Darion who will have 4 years of eligibility could not find a role on this team. Coming in, he was expected to be a difference-maker ranking 190th nationally. In his Freshman year, he never saw the field and decided to transfer out. There are no leads on where potential landing spots could be. Best of luck to Darion.
Anthony Solomon (LB) – 4-Star ★★★★✰ (0.9137)
Anthony was heavily recruited coming out of High School ranking 233 in the nation saw limited action in a stacked linebacker core. Mostly playing special teams, he saw action in 5 games but all special teams based. He has already committed to the Arizona Wildcats. Best of luck to Anthony.
George Johnson III (DB) – 3-Star ★★★✰✰ (0.8601)
Did not see much playing time his whole career at Michigan. Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior year he mostly played with the Scout Team but this past season he contributed against NIU, Washington, and Western Michigan mostly on Special Teams. No new leads where he’ll end up but he has 3 years of eligibility left wherever he goes. Best of luck to George.
Dan Villari (QB) – 3-Star ★★★✰✰ (0.8464)
Fan-favorite Dan Villari is transferring out of a very stacked QB class which would most likely result in no playing time for him, at most backup. Villari, a PRO-style QB coming out of HS saw some action periodically throughout the year but nothing substantial. There are no current leads on where he may head off to. Best of luck to Dan.
Nolan Rumler (OL) – 3-Star ★★★✰✰ (0.8000)
Nolan was a top 10 OG coming out of High School, and a 4-Star was downgraded to a 3-Star by 247-Sports in case you were confused why he’s listed as a 3-Star. He saw no game time in his Freshman season but got in a few times his Sophomore and Junior year. Nolan is currently committed to Kent State. Best of luck to Nolan.
Transferring to Michigan:
as of 01/06/22
Victor Oluwatimi (OL) – 4-Star ★★★✰✰ (0.9100)
Victor was one of the higher-regarded transfer prospects this year with his immense talent and loads of experience. He started almost his whole career at Virginia, coming in as a 2-Star but now being upgraded to a 4-Star. Victory will replace much-needed talent on the line and be an immediate starter for the Wolverines. He has one year left of eligibility so Michigan will gain a year to develop younger talent on the line to eventually start for Michigan and replace Victor after his tenure in Ann Arbor is completed.
