With the Michigan Football season behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to the new season in 2022 and what to make of the current information we have. Unlike past years we’ve got a pretty good understanding of most positions where players are going to be in the depth chart.

This includes all current information we have regarding Michigan football’s recruits and transfer information. A lot can quickly develop and change in the offseason so keep that in mind. We’ll be reviewing every single offensive unit and the projected depth chart.

Keep in mind, this is only a projection based on the current information we have garnered. There is plenty of room for change throughout the offseason as it’s impossible to foresee any new transfers at the moment.

Projected Quarterback Depth Chart

QB1 – J.J. McCarthy (Sophmore)

QB2 – Cade McNamara (Senior)

While there is plenty of debate for this, there is no debate that Michigan had a huge spark when JJ McCarthy came in. Jim Harbaugh using JJ gradually in every game throughout the season proved to be beneficial to his development as well as getting the fans excited about the future.

While Cade McNamara is a fantastic quarterback and deserves a great deal of credit for his poise and ability to remain calm under pressure, as well as being the first quarterback in forever to beat Ohio State, I do not see him starting over McCarthy next season.

Obviously, we will have no idea until kickoff next season who is going to start here. I think if JJ is to start, Cade is going to be used substantially as well. Harbaugh does seem to have seniority favoritism when choosing quarterbacks, but he’s shown that he has changed hence hiring all the young guys he did.
