These are three of the most absurd overreactions from Michigan football’s primetime defeat to the indomitable Georgia Bulldogs.

Michigan football made its long-awaited journey to the college football playoff, but it didn’t go as they planned. The Wolverines were outplayed by Georgia who made them look like a pee-wee team playing against a college team. They never really gave Michigan a chance and that is bitterly agonizing to get over after what the maize and blue accomplished to get that far.

1. Michigan’s defense gave Stetson Bennett too much credit

This is an overreaction because they couldn’t stop the attack of the often criticized Georgia signal-caller. Bennett had something to prove after the SEC championship game and unfortunately Michigan was in his way. Needless to say, the Michigan defense did not prepare enough for the eventual Orange Bowl MVP.

Todd Monken drew up a solid game plan that Bennett executed pretty flawlessly. The bubble screens effectively halted Michigan football’s pass rush making Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo almost useless.

Neither had a sack which gave Bennett time to find his playmakers open for big gains, something that the Wolverine defenders were not used to giving up much of this season.

Even running back Kenny McIntosh found paydirt on a pass to his teammate Adonai Mitchell. It was the same play that Iowa ran in the Big Ten championship game but didn’t convert. This really shows the unbalanced differences in competition between the almighty SEC and Big Ten conferences.
