Georgia’s Defense & Prediction

Here is Leigh’s breakdown of the Georgia defense in its matchup against Michigan football, as well as a final score prediction from the Dawn of the Dawg expert.

“On the other side of the ball they run a pretty basic defense, but make opposing offenses make mistakes with the shifts at the line and by showing false blitz packages. You’ll see some blitzes occasionally, but usually, the defensive line gets a big enough push to give the linebackers time to create pressure. The Dawgs have 193 quarterback hurries, 41 sacks, and 83 tackles for loss, so while they like to create havoc, it’s not because they’re blitzing a ton.

Defensively Nakobe Dean is a field general that leads a unit full of playmakers. While I could likely name all 11 starters, Derion Kendrick and Kelee Ringo are two guys in the secondary that have impressed me the most this season. Ringo, in my opinion, is the next Champ Bailey, if not better than the Dawg legend.

As far as the contest is concerned I truly believe these two teams are mirror images of each other and it’ll come down to who has the better game plan.

Nevertheless, the Alabama game gave Michigan plenty of ammo to work with on how to expose Georgia’s defense, so it’s going to be a strategic confrontation. It will be a classic hard-nosed affair between two traditional powerhouses and I cannot wait for it. Georgia’s playoff experience pushes them by the Wolverines as the Dawgs win 38-31, but it will be a gauntlet.”
