3 Reasons Michigan Football will beat Iowa Hawkeyes

3 . They are a Bad Matchup for the Hawkeyes
Michigan football will win this game for the two reasons we mentioned before. But in reality, they are just a horrible matchup for the Hawkeyes.
We talked about in our last reason why the Hawkeyes have been able to come back in games where they’ve trailed late. But what about their losses to Purdue and Wisconsin?
Not only did those teams not put Iowa in a position to capitalize on turnovers, but they shut the door on their offense. In those two losses (which came in back-to-back games), the Hawkeyes were outscored 51-14.
In those games, the Hawkeye offense looked more lethargic than a runway model right before the show.
The Hawkeyes do not have the talent nor the scheme to put together length of the field drives against the 14th ranked — and I might add one of the best defenses they’ve seen all year.
The Wolverines have rattled all quarterbacks they’ve faced to date. They’ve stymied every run game outside of Michigan State. And they’ve been a nuisance to every offense they’ve gone up against. The defense can stop run-heavy offenses like Wisconsin, option offenses like Nebraska, and shut down dynamic ones like Ohio State.
On the other side of the ball, Michigan football has proven time and time again that it can put together exhausting drives. We’ve seen them march the length of the field where any fan in the stands or viewer at home can feel and see the soul leaving the defender’s body.
Iowa would love to have played Ohio State or Michigan State in this game. Well, maybe not “loved” but at least liked their odds a little more. Those teams take chances on offense. They don’t have elite defenses.
Michigan doesn’t take risks, and the Wolverines have an elite defense.
The Hawkeyes are going to be in a position where they don’t want to be by the second half. Having to throw the ball around trying to mount a comeback because the Wolverine offense consistently marches down the field eating up the clock and putting together scoring drives.
Michigan is Iowa’s worst nightmare and worst possible matchup. They are built top to bottom in all the ways Iowa isn’t equipped to handle.
