Michigan Football: 3 Reasons Wolverines will beat Ohio State
By Josh LaFond
3. This Team is Different
Under Jim Harbaugh, Michigan football has always made the rivalry an emphasis. But to many of our chagrin, not to the level of obsession that Ohio State has. Not until this year.
Since spring practice, the Wolverines have implemented a new drill in practice. A drill that focuses on destroying the enemy. The title of the drill?
“Beat Ohio“.
Maintaining the focus on the enemy and matching the obsession the Buckeyes have shown over the last 20 years is more important to this game than anyone will admit. This year they have that obsession.
This year is different.
No, it might not be a statistical reason. It might not be something we’ve seen in the eye test. This is purely emotionally based. And I’m perfectly fine admitting that.
Hey, pessimistic Michigan fans! Yup, I’m speaking to you! Even you know deep down in your heart of hearts that this team and this season is different.
The aura surrounding this team is different. Game week has felt more like excitement and anticipation than waiting for two bullets to the back of the head — and that feeling of impending death, we’ve felt that too many years.
Led by superstars Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, and Dax Hill on defense. By Hassan Haskins, Blake Corum, and Erick All on offense, the attitude is different. The demeanor is different.
This iteration of the Wolverines is battle-tested and hardened. Unlike past seasons (2018 & 2019) these men will be ready for war. This year, this time around, it’s different.
Call me a homer, call me biased, call me whatever you want. Because the answer is “yes” to all those.
Michigan is winning this game. Go blue.
