3. Michigan is Focused on the Task at Hand
The Michigan Wolverines are well aware of what is on the table. We’ve talked about it ad nauseam as have our colleagues in the industry. The national media has covered it and it’s what the college football playoff committee is waiting on.
A game against Ohio State where the winner wins the division, books their trip to Indy, and likely has a spot secured in the CFP (college football playoff).
Previous Michigan football teams have struggled to remain focused when they have been in situations like this.
The 2015 game against the Indiana Hoosiers comes to mind. Just a couple of weeks before their matchup with the Buckeyes they nearly let one slip by on the road in Bloomington.
Also, in 2016 against the Iowa Hawkeyes, only two weeks before the Ohio State game the Wolverines lost in heartbreaking fashion.
Those teams looked ahead and lost focus. This team is different. Michigan will be fully prepared for Maryland — the Terrapins won’t be sneaking up on anybody.
For the Wolverines to reach the lofty goals they set for themselves this past offseason, they have to first take care of business this Saturday. And they will.
