Michigan Basketball: Grading Wolverines loss to Seton Hall
Bigs
Hunter Dickinson: A-
Dickinson had a really solid game and if there was anyone who showed up Tuesday night, outside of Eli Brooks, it was Hunter with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists in 31 minutes. He was also 8-for-11 from the field. The problem was that Michigan basketball couldn’t get him the ball in the final minutes when it needed buckets. But against a very big, physical team, he was dominant inside and that bodes well for this season in the Big Ten.
Brandon Johns: D
Johns did a decent job on the defensive end but his offense has been completely inconsistent. He looked like he would rather do anything than shoot and you can’t play with a guy like that. He was 3-for-8 but air-balled his first shot on a poor decision and whenever something like that happens, he seems to go off the rails. He’s been a huge disappointment this season and was supposed to be a core contributor. Juwan needs to get more out of him — quickly.
Moussa Diabate: D+
It wasn’t a great night for Moussa either. His defense is the reason he got a passing grade but things looked ugly on offense. He was 0-for-1 from the field and made just one of two free throws. The five-star looked like a turnover waiting to happen. He struggled with pressure and didn’t seem confident putting the ball on the deck when pressured or even passing. Michigan needs his defense but he’s got to find a way to function on the other end of the floor.
