The 4th ranked Michigan Wolverines take on Seton Hall Pirates (2-0) in part of the Gavitt Games Tip-Off at 9:00 PM EST. The Big East is currently 2-0 against the Big Ten after Marquette beat #10 Illinois and Providence beat Wisconsin.

The timeline is 1989. Steve Fisher vs P.J Carlesimo in what would end up to be one of the most thrilling and exciting National Championship games of all time. Glen Rice vs John Morton was something you had to see to appreciate how dominant these two powerhouses truly were.

Fast forward to 2021. Two programs enriched with history have yet to face since that 1989 National Championship, until now.

Michigan’s taking on a tough, gritty and hungry Seton Hall team that’s coming off two monster games. Seton Hall is test #2 for the Wolverines, if you don’t know what test #1 was refer to this fantastic article.

1. Will Turnovers Be Cleaned Up Against A Top 10 Defense?

I’ll give you an almost certain guarantee. If Michigan basketball turns the ball over as it did against Prairie View A&M, the Wolverines are not going to win this basketball game.

Seton Hall boasts the 6th best scoring defense in the country allowing just 46.5 points per game while racking up 93 points per game. This is a good team, they’ve got some legit dogs like senior guard Myles Cale who’s averaging 13, 6, and 2.

Michigan’s turnovers in bulk came in transition. U-M was struggling at times to move the ball up the court. Prairie View was no slouch defensively and you could tell that right away, but Seton Hall is a major step up defensively from Prairie View A&M and Buffalo.

Michigan basketball needs a clean game with less than 10 turnovers if its going to win. Seton Hall is really good at capitalizing on turnovers and it’s just unnecessary points to give Seton Hall, in what already will be a dog fight.
