Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from resilient win at Penn State
By Nick Popio
Hutchinson and Ojabo wreaked eternal havoc
It seemed like every time that Sean Clifford dropped back to pass he was under constant pressure from Michigan’s pass rush. He clearly was in pain late in the game after taking so many hits from that unit throughout. Penn State’s offensive line did their best, but it wasn’t good enough to slow down such a thriving attack that didn’t let up.
David Ojabo and Aidan Hutchinson were game wreckers. They each had a field day on Clifford and combined for a head-turning five and a half sacks and two forced fumbles on the day. Hutchinson had a career high three sacks himself. The defense got to Clifford a whopping seven times in all and notched 12 tackles for loss.
The duo is on pace to break the single-season sack record of LaMarr Woodley and David Bowens at 12. Not to mention that they both have NFL draft scouts salivating at their limitless potential off the edge that is only gaining traction with each passing week. The work that both of them have done for the turnaround of this defense cannot be understated one bit.
