Red-zone issues still linger

It’s interesting because when you look at Penn State’s defense, a lot of what it wants to do should play into the hands of Michigan.

It’s sort of a bend-but-don’t-break philosophy and Penn State has done really well with it. A key part of that is their red zone defense which ranks in the top 10 nationally.

Michigan football fans keep hoping that the Wolverines will resolve their red-zone issues. U-M has been to the red zone frequently and kicked a lot of field goals this season.

But Michigan has also averaged 34 points a game on the road against Nebraska, Michigan State, and Wisconsin, so the offense is doing something right.

You can just about book the offense for around 400 yards and 20-30 points. But the Wolverines will have to settle for 2-3 field goals again as it’s hard to see the red-zone problem magically disappearing.
