Michigan Football: Wolverines resume stock is rising
Michigan football’s resume week after week keeps improving as previous foes improve their record and stay competitive in their conferences.
Public consensus while writing this article has typically been that Michigan’s toughest opponent thus far, Michigan State was the most important game of the season and I totally agree.
However, in retrospect, Michigan football has secretly played some really good football teams thus far.
September 4th, Western Michigan Broncos
In the first game of the season and the first new look at a refined Wolverine team under Jim Harbaugh, we got excited for the season as Michigan football blew the rails off Western Michigan 47-14.
Western Michigan currently sits at 6-4 in the MAC, which is a Bowl Eligible record already, but they have shown that they are not a bad team by any stretch of the imagination. Western Michigan beat Pitt on the road in an absolute dog fight.
This is not the strongest win on Michigan’s resume, however, this is a win that is often overlooked and overshadowed by other games Michigan has won. Western Michigan realistically does not have much of a shot to win the MAC this year, but another team Michigan beat is the best school in the MAC. More on that later.
The Broncos boast a very competitive rushing defense in college football coming in at 35th in FBS D-1. Michigan combined rushed for over 300 yards on Western Michigan averaging nearly 8 yards per carry on the Broncos.
