Michigan Football: 3 Keys to beating Indiana Hoosiers
By Josh LaFond
2. Don’t Settle for Field Goals
While the stats show that the Wolverines are one of the most efficient teams in the red zone, what it doesn’t account for is the number of field goals they have settled for inside the 20-yard line this year. You could say in fact, it’s their Achilles heel.
A more telling stat than the “efficiency” is the fact that Jake Moody currently ranks second in the nation in field goals made. Hey, that’s great! He hasn’t missed much. In fact, only twice this year.
But you have to put the ball in the end zone when you get in scoring position.
We have already seen packages where J.J. McCarthy is inserted when the offense gets inside the redone as evidenced by THIS play.
Whether or not the Wolverine offense conglomerate goes back to designs like that remains to be seen. But creativity is needed when points are in play.
Indiana’s hope and chance of winning this game is reliant on keeping Michigan from running the score up and settling for three.
Don’t settle for field goals, and this game won’t be in doubt.
