Michigan football will be back on the field after a bye for Week 7 and will take the field against the Wildcats in Week 8.
The bye week is over and Michigan football will be back on the field this Saturday against Northwestern out of the Big Ten West.
Northwestern won the West Division a year ago but is just 1-2 in the conference and 3-3 overall to start 2021. However, the Wildcats are fresh off a 21-7 win over Rutgers, which gives them something to build on as they head to Ann Arbor.
Michigan football actually hasn’t lost to Northwestern since the Rich Rod Days. Brady Hoke went 4-0 against the Wildcats and Jim Harbaugh is 2-0 with a win in Ann Arbor in 2015, as well as a come-from-behind win led by Shea Patterson in 2018.
Yet, four of the five games were decided by eight points or less, outside of the 38-0 shutout by Michigan football in 2015.

Ryan Hilinski is fresh off his best game of the year and threw two touchdowns, as well as passing for 267 yards against Rutgers.
Bye weeks are also worrisome and even though Jim Harbaugh said his team is still pressing forward — which I believe — that doesn’t mean there might not be a little rust.
I do think Northwestern is going to struggle to score against the Michigan defense, but this will be a competitive game for a while. The Wolverines are more talented and their offensive line will win the day, but it’s going to take four quarters.
