Michigan football notched a significant win on Saturday and here’s what the polls looked like on Sunday, plus our breakdown.

It had been five meetings and 20 years since Michigan football had won in Madison. None of that mattered on Saturday when the Wolverines beat Wisconsin 38-17.

It was the type of statement road win that we have not seen Michigan get in recent years. The win moved Michigan into the top 25 of the AP poll at 9. You might even say Michigan jumped around.

College football chaos

Michigan football was aided by a chaotic day in college football. Nine teams in the top 25 went down, including five teams in top 12. Oregon imploded defensively on the final drive of regulation, before falling to Stanford 31-24 in overtime. The Ducks fell to No. 8.

In a top 10 matchup in South Bend, #7 Cincinnati defeated #9 Notre Dame 24-13. It is always a great Saturday when Notre Dame loses and the Fighting Irish fall to No. 14. Now up to No.5, Cincinnati will be a favorite in every remaining game and is in prime position to be the first Group of Five team to crack the College Football Playoff.

In the SEC, Alabama and Georgia continued to show why they are in a class by themselves. No. 1 Alabama beat No. 12 Ole Miss 42-21in a game that was not as close as the final score indicated. Meanwhile, No. 2 Georgia shut out No. 8 Arkansas 37-0. Alabama and Georgia seem on the collision course for the SEC Title game and they also cleared out two teams ahead of Michigan.

In the Big Ten, Iowa dominated Maryland 51-14 while Penn State shut out Indiana 24-0. Next week, No. 3 Iowa will host No. 4 Penn State in Iowa City. An Iowa win would help out Michigan in the Big Ten East race. Ohio State blew out Rutgers 52-13 and comes in at No. 7 this week. Michigan State comes in at No. 11 after beating Western Kentucky 48-31.

Next. 5 things we learned in Wisconsin win. dark

With five teams ranked in the top 12, the Big Ten will be a gaunlet. Michigan football has Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State remaining. But first, the task at hand is beating Nebraska and heading into the bye week at 6-0.
