Michigan football landed the commitment of Mason Graham earlier this month and it’s looking like a home run for the Wolverines.

Defensive lineman Mason Graham is one of the verbal commitments this month for Michigan football, and while he flipped to the Wolverines, new programs keep entering the mix.

The former Boise State commit pledged to Michigan after taking a visit to Ann Arbor this fall. However, that hasn’t stopped the recruit from Anaheim from being noticed.

Playing for Servite, the 6-foot-4, 295-pounder has been dominant this fall and has eight sacks this season. Here’s what Greg Biggins of 247 sports wrote about him in an article about his 247 sports rating being bumped from an 88 to an 89.

"“Anaheim (Calif.) Servite’s Mason Graham has eight sacks in four games and has shown the ability to move around and play inside or outside along the defensive line. He has grown-man strength and plays with a non-stop motor, which is even more impressive when you consider he starts full time on the offensive line a well. Graham committed last week to Michigan but schools are still coming after him including USC, who just offered on Wednesday.”"

Graham is ranked 718th right now according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s rated as an 86 in the composite but in the 247 sports rankings, he’s been moved up to an 89, which is the highest rating you can have as a three-star recruit.

Just as a D-lineman, 247 sports has Graham ranks 54 spots higher, so we’ll see if the other rankings catch up.

USC, Oregon aim for a flip

That all is just more affirmation of what we’ve seen from Graham who has been dominant this fall. But the fact that Oregon and USC have both offered in the past week, is another indication that he’s being underrated.

Those are the two big programs in terms of recruiting in the Pac-12 and we’ll see if Graham is as committed as he says.

But USC is a mess right now and just got drubbed by Oregon State. Oregon is rolling but Michigan football really made Graham a priority and it’s going to pay off when he gets to campus, that is as long as the Wolverines can hold off these flip attempts.

Deone Walker, another top Michigan football target in 2022, was moved up to a four-star according to 247 and is now on the “Top247” watch. All of his crystal balls are pointing to Michigan even despite a late push from Alabama.
