Michigan football surged to 19th in the latest AP poll after another blowout win.

It was another great week for Michigan football as the Wolverines put together another dominant win 63-10 over Northern Illinois to move to 3-0.

As a result, the Wolverines moved up to No. 19 in the AP Top 25 this week. The Wolverines were benefitted by losses from No.13 UCLA, No. 15 Virginia Tech, No. 19 Arizona State, No. 22 Auburn and No. 24 Miami.

The Hurricanes were defeated by Michigan State at home 38-17. The rival Spartans also moved to 3-0 and pulled in one spot behind the Wolverines at No. 20.

In the top 10, there were a few changes as well. Oregon jumped Oklahoma and moved from No. 4 to No.3. The Ducks have a more impressive resume than the Sooners anyway while the Sooners have struggled against both Tulane and Nebraska at home.

Penn State moved up four spots to No. 6 following its victory over Auburn. When Michigan football heads to Happy Valley, capitalizing on its opportunities when it crosses the 40 will be key as once again Penn State’s defense sealed a win defending its own end zone.

A few notable teams that Penn State jumped were Clemson and Ohio State. Clemson has struggled to get its offense going in the post-Trevor Lawrence area. Meanwhile, the rival Buckeyes struggled again defensively allowing Tulsa to hang around a lot longer than most expected. The first two weeks when it was their run defense, but Tulsa threw for over 400 yards against the Buckeyes.

As for the rest of the Big Ten, Iowa remained at No. 5 and Wisconsin held put at No. 18. Michigan heads to Madison next week but first the Badgers have a battle with No. 12 Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish have not been dominant this season but remain 3-0. Hopefully, Wisconsin knocks them off so Michigan football will have another opportunity at a top 15 win next week.
