Michigan Football: 5 things we learned in domination of Northern Illinois
Harbaugh, Wolverines found identity again
It’s been said already but this Michigan football team has found its identity again.
Back in 2015, when Harbaugh became the head coach he made an immediate impact. The team was tougher, more efficient, and just executed at a higher level.
There was a mental and physical toughness to it. At some point, that got lost. The culture suffered and as Harbaugh indicated again in his press conference, by praising the cohesion of this coaching staff, that the previous staff didn’t mesh all that well.
Sherrone Moore moving to coach the O-line, as well as being co-OC was genius, as were the additions of Mike Hart and Matt Weiss. The Wolverines are innovating again on offense and this team gives me strong 2015 vibes.
The defense is flying around and the Wolverines are punching people right in the mouth. The fire is back and while three games don’t mean a whole lot, the change is noticeable.
This program is aiming to beat Ohio State, Michigan State, and win championships. That or die trying and after watching the start of this season, you can see Harbaugh meant what he said.
This season feels like Jim’s first year or back when he was in San Francisco. It was all about physicality and if Michigan can dominant its opponent each week in the trenches, it’s going to win a lot of football games in 2021.
