These are the most obscene overreactions from Michigan football’s victory over Western Michigan in the 2021 season opener.

It’s only human nature that mankind has to pass along judgment following what they witnessed in Saturday’s triumph over Western Michigan. Below are three overreactions that stood out in Michigan football‘s convincing performance over an unmatched Western bunch that succumbed to the Wolverines in the Big House.

#1. The offense will run like a well-oiled machine without Ronnie Bell.

That is indeed an overreaction that is not true. Bell is the glue that pieces the offense together. He will be sorely missed and it’s going to be a difficult to replace him with with just one guy. He was just scratching the surface on his impact in the game before he got hurt too. His wealth of experience will be what the offense misses the most.

Some will argue that he shouldn’t have even been returning punts in the first place. It’s a valid complaint, but as many can attest to that is the risk that you take in those circumstances.

Others like Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Steve Breaston and Donovan Peoples-Jones have all played highly important roles in others facets of the game and still returned punts as an added bonus.

Stepping in for Bell will be a cast involving Roman Wilson, A.J. Henning, Daylen Baldwin, Mike Sainristil, amongst others.

They surely cannot supplant his veteran leadership, but will be tasked to make those critical, crunch time catches that Bell had been relied upon to generate for his fellow teammates.
