Michigan football opens the season Saturday against Western Michigan and here are five predictions for the Wolverines.

After what seems like an eternity, Michigan football will hit the field on Saturday at the Big House, and finally, some of our questions will be answered.

Don’t expect to come away from the first game thinking you know everything about this Michigan football team. It’s going to be a work in progress.

The Wolverines do have talent though and in the 247 sports team talent rankings for the 2021 season, only Ohio State ranks higher than the Wolverines in the Big Ten.

Of course, that was true last season and it didn’t much matter as lower-ranked teams such as Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State, and Wisconsin all won against Michigan.

Can Western Michigan pull off that feat? The Broncos are from the MAC but they are one of the league’s better teams and they’ve got a talented and experienced signal-caller.

Michigan football is still the favorite and should win by 2-3 scores. But will it? Here are five predictions starting with Mr. Cade McNamara.

McNamara throws for over 200 and two touchdowns

How Cade McNamara plays in the opener is one of the key questions that come to mind for Saturday. J.J. McCarthy is waiting in the wings and Michigan football fans are going to get impatient if the offense struggles early.

Yet, Western Michigan isn’t a defensive juggernaut. The Broncs ranked 93rd in scoring offense last season and allowed 239 yards per game, as well as two touchdown passes per game.

It was a short sample but Ronnie Bell, Cornelius Johnson, and Daylen Baldwin should cause some issues. McNamara will hit on a deep ball or two and toss a couple of TDs.
