Michigan Football: 5 Wolverines to watch against Western Michigan

Cade McNamara, QB
Everyone will have their eyes on Cade McNamara on Saturday. That’s what comes with being the starting quarterback at the University of Michigan.
Will McNamara be the answer to the seven-year-long question at the quarterback position for Jim Harbaugh? Here’s what Harbaugh had to say about McNamara earlier this week:
"“Cade McNamara is our starting quarterback, he’s ratcheted it up in a lot of different areas. The biggest one, consistency of doing his job. Also, call it a talent of making everyone else around you better — maybe that is the most important job of a quarterback.”"
The team seems to believe in McNamara, too, as many players have spoken on his improved leadership throughout this offseason. The Michigan football quarterback doesn’t display elite abilities on the ground, but his main job this season will be to lead the team and be somewhat of a game manager, making plays when the team needs him to.
It has already been stated during camp that the identity of this offense will be running the football, and with a good run game, along with a good offensive line, McNamara will find his job much easier.
If teams are forced to respect the run game, and the offensive line can be a force in the trenches, then receivers will be open and McNamara will just have to find the open man and let him make plays.
McNamara will start on Saturday for just the second time in his career, backed by a team with full belief in him. Michigan football fans should, and will, keep a close eye on him in the opener.
